"My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me." John 10:27
This chapter in John is something I keep going back to these past six months. It's heart-warming to claim the beautiful truths of Psalm 23, "The Lord is my shepherd;" John 10 restates this as God being our "Good Shepherd." But are we equally considering the role of the sheep (us)? When we compare ourselves to other people, we tend to compare ourselves to those who are not living up to whatever standards we have set in our own lives, standards that are based upon the identity we choose to live within. John 10 poses some good questions for us -- am I able to glean wisdom from God's Word, or do I feel dull when I read it? In the small moments where nobody sees, am I someone who follows Christ in obedience?
If you aren't sure where to start, a good place is to look at your resources: time, money, and your body. How do you spend your time? What does your free time tend to go towards? What does most of your money go towards? Do you treat your body like something that demands the satisfaction of rich foods and sex, something to control so that you feel powerful when life is chaotic, or do you live in self-control to God's glory?
I find that when I use God's Word to take a critical and honest look at my own life, I am left humbled before the cross. God's love for me is not dependent on how good I am, but on how good He is. And praise God for that, because I continually have to come before Him and ask forgiveness for failing AGAIN. Thankful for the cross!
My favorite Levi jeans have a new style! They are now available in camo. I am wearing this all the time! They are pull-up jeans, and are very flattering and suck everything in in the abdomen area. My favorites! This turtleneck is a simple staple that can be versatile to different styles. The only odd thing about this item is that the tag is on the outside. But my hair always covers it, and it was so much cheaper than other turtlenecks I looked for. This scarf was a Christmas gift and I just appreciate a good blanket scarf! All items in this outfit are true to size, except my shoes. With these booties I found that I was more comfortable if I went up a size.
As always, thank you for your support on this journey!
